New arrivals and an old friend...

We have just bought four 'khaki campbell' ducks - I'm not convinced, because at nine weeks old they are already bigger than the pair of year olds that we already have and I'm sure the others were different colours when we had them as ducklings, anyway it doesn't matter. I was a little apprehensive about introducing the ducklings when we first had them but very quickly the adults began to parent them.

I drove down to Norfolk to collect our new geese, which was very interesting as one of them jumped out of their box on the journey!  They are five year old Embden geese which are really gorgeous.  Not sure that I'll be saying that in the Springtime although I do have time to make some armour before then.

Ted on the other hand is not impressed by the new kids on the block as quite frankly he is the top turkey! This weekend eight of his eggs have hatched so with a bit of luck these will survive.  Both of his wives are also sitting so who knows if they will be successful or not but I'll keep you posted!

I have been holding two teaching jobs for a while which has been a struggle as it becomes much more than full time.  I'd worked at my two-day a week job for almost four years so that when I was offered long term sick cover I knew it was time for a change. It was sad to leave the children especially as some of them still think that I will be teaching them next year! I was given many, many presents and lots of beautiful flowers, that are still looking well two weeks after they were given to me.  I was also given lots of chocolates and other gifts, unfortunately dog no 2 ate three boxes of chocolates which in turn became gifts that we won't talk about!  I was also given a camera from work which was a very welcome gift, so there really is no excuse not to blog more now that I can take photos again. I'm looking forward to starting my new job in September.

Come on Rebecca!
Although I have lots of things to blog about I didn't feel I could until I had shown you my gifts from the heart swap.  My camera finally died so I carefully removed the SD card and put it somewhere safely - and therein lay my problem - I just couldn't find it! I looked in all the obvious place that I normally store things but I'd really done myself proud this time.  Finally I have tried it down and here they are - my swap gifts from the Undomesticated Scientist are amazing! I was so lucky!  Thank you so much!
