It's a small world!
We have a lovely Mum who helps out at school. I know that she listens to the readers and is in charge of our library trolley but she will also help out in anyway she can. As a teacher any extra help is always welcomed as there are never enough hours in the day despite me joking about the holidays. Today lovely Mum asked me where I was from. I answered Wales. Despite having a Welsh accent many people mistakenly think that I am from the West County. She was interested in which part of Wales. When I told her she looked shocked! Rarely has anyone ever heard of my home town. It turns out that not only has lovely Mum heard of my home town but her Nan lives seven doors away from where my Nan lived and we both visit as often as we can! I wonder if we have met before?

It's Buzzing!
I really, really enjoyed watching last year's Great British Sewing Bee but so far this year's is proving to be equally as good! I do look forward to my Tuesday evenings. I feel almost inspired to get my sewing machine out. Almost.

Half term break
It was our half term break last week. I don't feel too badly that it was over so quickly as in five weeks and four days we have a two week Easter break. Then after that we are back for four weeks and three days before our next week off. Anyway it wasn't my intention to discuss how hard I work and deserving of my holidays that I am ;-)
Despite extensive plans I hardly did anything or went anywhere although I did manage to read some books written by an author that I wasn't familiar with prior to last week - Debbie Macomber. Lovely easy reads that make me feel that I know the characters. I was attracted to the title 'A good yarn' and the fact that it was very cheap! I like yarn! I like cheap! What was there not to like? Well there wasn't and before I knew it, I had downloaded another one of the Blossom Street series, and another, and another... They became my family and they didn't answer back. Whilst I haven't quite completed the whole series (it was only a week after all!) I am not far off.
I did venture out a little and found time away from my new found family to meet up with my lovely friend (I think she's worth it). We went to Horncastle, a quaint little market town with lots of antique shops, charity shops and importantly tea rooms. No sooner had we parked up but we were heading off to our first tea (or latte and maybe an almond croissant) stop of the day.

We then had a wander around Horncastle dipping in and out of shops that took our fancy. Before we knew it, it was time for lunch. We found a little café that didn't have a single straight wall!
Whilst I don't normally make a habit of taking photographs of the smallest room, I couldn't resist snapping this little window. I'm not sure that it really captures its cuteness but it really made me smile.
Then more antique shops, more charity shops and then finally another café!
I always find that this shop amuses me, it is stacked high with all sorts of crockery. Two huge buildings full and then rows and rows of tables piled high outside! Where do you even start?

Don and Janet
Don and Janet had a smallholding when their boys were growing up and they love to come to ours to help. We were given a very old shed and by old I mean it was about seventy years old! Bits of it had been eaten by rats, it had wood worm, dry rot, wet rot and was held together only by a prayer. Had it been left to Husband it would have made a rather nice bonfire. But Don and Janet come from an era when you did make do and mend and so Don decided to fix it. He cut out all the bad bits and slowly but surely began to rebuild it. No 4 and I had the task of reclaiming the good wood from the pallets that we have been given. Although looking closely at the photo I have just noticed that she is having a break! Lazy madam!
Once the sides were repaired we managed to put it together, using some of our reclaimed metal sheets Don set about making a roof. Don has just turned 80!
I often discover little repair jobs have miraculously happened whilst we are at work. When I mention it to Don he just grins.
And there it is. Rebuilt and good to go once more.

Just thought I'd share
I don't mind that this doesn't match my Kirstie Allsopp bedding as really it's not on show. At seven o'clock every night I fill my little hottie with some very hot water and place it in bed just where my back will be.
Then I find for the rest of the evening I can't concentrate as I all I want to do is join it!
(Actually the whole matching thing, I do mind a bit so maybe one day I will make a new cover that just might make me glow on the inside as well as the out!)

February's Craft Group
It was craft night this week and I taught a group of ladies how to make some sweet Valentine crafts. There was much hilarity and some serious paper bird envy!
These are some of the paper birds that were made but alas not photographs of the cards.
Trying to get the birds to stand on their spindly paperclip legs was a real work of art!
These two lovely ladies found the 'button box.' It always makes me smile that whatever our age there is something irresistible about delving into a box of buttons. Most of us have memories of doing this as a child.
I have already planned the craft session in March and I thought I might do a tutorial for my blog too as I haven't done one of those for a while. But I shall be back before March!
