My new dress

Not the best pictue in the world but anyway here is my new dress! I wore it to work today - it is just so comfy and I love it!

After meeting work friends for breakfast and coffee yesterday, I wandered into town to pick up child no 1 who was 'hanging' as she put it after clubbing the night before.  Despite her initial protests I managed to persuade her to accompany me to here...

I'm not quite sure what I expected but there were about thirty different stalls selling mainly vintage clothing.  Lighting was poor as the venue was also a nightclub.  Now, I don't normally get excited about clothes shopping but this was soooooo exciting - rails and rails of vintage clothing - many of which I remember from the 80s (I'll not be going back there any time soon - I've still got the photos!)

I bought myself a dress from the 60s which I haven't photographed yet and Daughter bought two shirts with an 80s feel and I bought her a dress from the 70s.  All of which are in the washing machine at the moment.  I need to shorten daughter's dress, make her a belt and a matching headband with bow - should keep me busy for a while! My new dress is made from terylene and looks every bit as good as the day it was made! I'm not quite sure why but I have so wanted one made from this fabric!

Very Belated Birthday Post!

It was my birthday in December and I was fortunate to have lots of lovely gifts sent from some very kind blogging ladies.  I should have blogged about it way back then but for various reasons didn't.  However I am now, so, better very much later than not at all, I hope!  Thank you ladies for my wonderful gifts which brought much joy to some dark days.  You all know who you are and I am very very grateful. Thank you.

Happy Valentines!

Had a lovely time at chocolate bingo with the Brownies. We managed to win some lovely prizes including a cast iron pyrex slow cooker for which I'll need some enormous muscles to use! Some Lush soaps (Karma is one of my favourites)
And a Bird feeder.

Trying to get my crafting mojo back!

I have made all sorts in my mind, but reality is much different.  For many reasons I have not crafted for such a long time and I miss it. I have just purchased this from Etsy:
I'm hoping that these cuties will get me back into it!

Yesterday

It was an early start as we were catching the coach to London for the annual New Year function provided by husband's employers. We were not due to go - we couldn't commit to it when the invites were given, so it was a lovely surprise when we discovered that there were two tickets left!
It was all going very well until husband sat down and ripped the seat out of his trousers! Clearly I found it much more funny than he did...
So I found myself hand washing his suit trousers and throwing them in the tumble drier.  They were still damp when we left for the coach.
We had a lovely journey and arrived in London at about 1o'clock.  After a quick lunch we arrived at the theatre to watch...

It was amazing, I laughed and cried my way through it.  It was amazing and by far the best musical that I have ever seen.  Having grown up in Wales and remembering the devastating effects of the miners' strike made the performance ever more poignant.  Even husband loved it!
We then had time for a quick mooch around before we met up with the rest of the party for dinner.  We had just been served our dessert when an announcement was made from the bus driver.  They were becoming increasingly concerned about the levels of snow.  So we began the long and arduous journey back to Lincolnshire. The roads were chaos! Cars were strewn all over the roads, on the verges and even in the hedges.  It was good to see that people were helping each other. We finally made it home at ten to five and bed was a welcome sight!
Today is a quiet lazy day playing in the snow and preparing for work tomorrow, whilst quietly praying for more snow so that school is cancelled (a girl can hope!)
