Enough to bring tears to your eyes!
I'm afraid it's another chicken themed post - because goodness me! These eggs were collected today, the one on the right is really quite cute (probably quail sized) but the one on the left must have been a real strain! Four and a half ounces! Pheww! Brings tears to the eyes...

Meet Groovy Chicken!
I've blogged before about No 4's severe/profound hearing loss. She does amazingly well but sometimes we do have some very funny conversations! Take this chicken for instance I said 'broody chicken' she thought I'd said 'groovy chicken!'
We're now hoping that Groovy Chicken carries on sitting and we get some chicks!

New Addition!
Less than three hours ago we took ownership of a beautiful eight year old chocolate lab...
Do you think she may have settled in already?

Mum's operation went well, so fingers crossed she'll make a speedy recovery.
We all have to get up at a reasonable hour in this house, children moan but it needs to be done! Youngest daughter refuses to get up before 6:30am despite my best attempts. When I went to bed last night I was amused to find this note pinned to her door...
I also had an early Mother's Day gift - some new welly socks that I have had my eye on! Lovely!

It says: I will only wake up at 6:30am NO EARLIER! Not even 10 secs or 10 mins or 1 sec. It is according to my watch. Don't get annoyed if I say "It is not 6:30 yet!" I consider myself told! Maybe a bucket of cold water might shift her!
I had this surprise gift this week - a hand knit tea cosy with a chicken on top! Cute! I feel very lucky that someone put all the effort into making me a gift!

A little frivolity and more serious matters
With yesterday's Charity Shop shopping spree and a little shopping expedition today you'll be thinking that all I do is shop! It's really not...honest! It was my lunch hour! Anyway all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (or Jill a dull girl as it happens ;-) ) and I have been doing a lot of supply lately - well bills need paying and animals need feeding! So today I indulged myself in a little 'me' time and I can wholeheartedly recommend it! I met up with my friend Karen for lunch and we ambled around all the nice shops that we found. This one in particular took our fancy...
Now onto more serious matters, I would very much appreciate prayers tomorrow as my Mum is having another major operation. It is going to be a difficult day so any help to get through it is greatly needed. Thank you.

There I was complaining about the price of charity shops when I stumbled upon these...
Youngest daughter decorated the cake that she had made in her cookery lesson. She was very proud of her creation and quite rightly so!

Pigs
Our new batch of pigs have arrived today. They are Oxford Sandy and Black. We only went to look at them last week and before we knew it I had persuaded Husband to buy four! It's a good thing that I had done lots of supply last month so that I'd got a bit of extra money. There were twenty weaners to choose from and we decided to buy only gilts.
We also decided to buy five instead of the four that we had originally planned for. We have six mixed breed weaners arriving in about three weeks too!
This photo shows them in their new home. We have had such lovely weather lately it was a shame to move them today in the cold and wet. We have closed them into their ark tonight as we worried they might get lost in the field and not know their way back into their new home! They are only babies after all!

Happy St David's day and a day off!
Today was a much needed day of rest. Normally I dash over to Birmingham Hospital on a Thursday to see Mum but today I went to visit my daughter. It was her day off so we arranged to have lunch. We speak everyday on the phone (often multiple times!) but it's not quite the same as meeting up and I miss her. We did the obligatory tour of the charity shops (is it me or are they getting really expensive?) and we visited an antique shop, three floors of delightful goodies...
Imagine having the embroidery skills to make this at nine years old. It was beautiful!
Then it was lunch!
Such a lovely, lovely day and ended with buying some daffodils to celebrate our Welshness!
